Hat Hire

Here at Susannah Greenman Millinery we are now offering a hire service!

Standard hat hire is for a period of 5 days unless otherwise arranged with SGM.

Costs of hire:

  • Hat hire cost

  • Security deposit- equal to the cost of the hire fee. Deposit is refundable if the hat is returned in the condition it was hired in. See ‘Damage and repairs’ section

  • Postage - if not collecting

How to hire:

  • See our collection of hats here. Contact us using the below form, by email or DM on our social media to check the availability of your chosen design on your specific date.

  • SGM will be in contact to confirm the availability and arrange payment for the deposit, hire cost and postage (if needed).

  • SGM will confirm postage address or book collection of the hat.

Delivery or collection:

  • All hire pieces are posted by First Class tracked or Special Delivery with the appropriate insurance. Postage will be additional to the hire costs. In the unlikely event of a hired item arriving damaged please contact SGM upon receipt.

  • Collection in person will be arranged with SGM

  • Once posted or collected, the piece is considered on hire whether worn or not and all hire charges etc will apply

Returning the hat/headpiece

  • The hire piece must be returned in the condition that you received it. Any damage incurred must be communicated before return (this includes dents, water damage, missing or damaged trimmings etc), and repairs/replacement fees will apply.

  • Postage costs to return the hat are paid by you the hirer and postage must be First class tracked or Special delivery with proof of postage. The hat is your responsibility until received by Susannah Greenman Millinery.

  • Hats/headpieces are posted out in hat boxes and packaged in tissue paper. The hat will need to be returned as received with box and packaging and fragile labels on the outer packaging. Any damage incurred by not posting in the original packaging will forfeit the deposit paid.

  • Ensure the hire piece is sent back on or before the final day of hire. Please note if the final day of hire falls on a Sunday or bank holiday please return it the next working day.

  • If the hat is not returned by the agreed date there will be an overdue fee of £10 per day for any additional days over the hire period.

Damage and repairs:

  • Any alterations made to the hat/headpiece will be considered damage and your deposit will be affected.

  • Some hats/headpiece designs may be posted out with hypoallergenic tape applied to the inside. This is to protect the piece from make-up stains and should not be removed. The tape will not be visible.

  • The deposit is refundable on the proviso that the piece is returned in the condition that it was hired in. The item will be assessed by SGM upon receipt. If there is any damage, the cost of repair will be calculated and taken from the deposit.

  • Any damage deemed not to be covered by the deposit will incur additional charges to repair or replace and this will be calculated by Susannah. These charges will be additional to the hire cost.

  • Replacement costs will be charged at the full value of the hat/headpiece

Cancellation:

  • Cancellations can be made for the hire piece up to 1 month prior to the start of the hire date in order for the full deposit and hire fee to be refunded.

  • Any cancellations after this period will have the full hire fee refunded but only 50% of the deposit.

All hats/headpieces remain the property of Susannah Greenman Millinery

The above conditions will be set out in a hire agreement to be signed if collecting in-person or digitally signed if booking online.
